Your skin is personal. This explains what Clearo stores, why, and what you can do about it.
What we store
Your account: your email address, or the account you signed in with through Apple or Google, plus the name they provide.
Your profile: the answers you give during setup, such as your name, birth year (worked out from the age you entered), sex, skin type, acne type and where it shows up, treatments you have tried, and your photo time.
Your daily entries: your photos and small previews of them, the products you used, and the things you choose to track, such as stress, sleep or your period if you turn it on.
Your routine and any products you add yourself.
How the app is used: for example, which setup screens were opened, when the app was opened, and when photos were saved (but not what's in them). Plus crash reports when something goes wrong. Neither includes your answers, photos, products or anything you track.
Why
To run the app for you: to show your history, let you compare days, and remind you to take your photos.
Usage stats and crash reports show us where the app is confusing or broken, so we can fix it. We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
Your photos
Photos are stored in private storage that only your account can read, encrypted at rest, and shown in the app through short-lived links. They are never public, never shared unless you share them yourself, and never saved to your camera roll unless you choose to.
If you share a comparison from Compare, the image is made on your phone and goes only where you send it. It isn't sent to us, and the copy made for sharing is deleted afterwards. We only learn that you shared and which options you picked, not the image or who you sent it to.
Where it lives
Your data is stored with Supabase, our database and hosting provider, which processes it on our behalf. A copy of recent entries and photos is also kept on your phone so the app works offline; it's removed when you sign out.
If you sign in with Apple or Google, they confirm who you are and share your email address and name with us. Reminders are scheduled on your phone and don't go through our servers.
Usage stats go to PostHog and crash reports to Sentry, which process them on our behalf, in the United States, like the rest of your data. PostHog links usage stats to an account ID, not your name or email; crash reports aren't linked to your account. Neither is sent your photos, what's on your screen, or your location.
Your choices
You can change your profile, routine and what you track at any time in Settings.
Turn off Share usage stats in Settings and the app stops sending usage stats and crash reports from this device.
Delete account, also in Settings, permanently removes your account and everything in it, including every photo. This happens straight away and can't be undone. Your usage stats are deleted too, within a few weeks (PostHog removes them in batches).
Our website
clearo-app.com is a plain information site. It has no sign-in, sets no cookies, and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. It's hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser and the page requested, to serve the site and protect it from abuse.
If you email us, we get your email address and what you write, and use them only to reply.
Age
Clearo is for people aged 13 and over.
Deleting your account
How to delete your account has the steps, and what to do if you can't open the app.
